Our Area

When asked why we chose to move our jewellery workshop from south-east England to rural West Wales twenty one years ago it wasn't difficult to answer. Here we feel fortunate to be living and working in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. The tranquility and spectacular scenery provide us with constant inspiration for our work.

Our workshop is set high on a hill above the Teifi valley, with outstanding views over rolling fields and out to sea. Although only 10 minutes by car from the market town of Cardigan you feel as though you are miles from anywhere, surrounded by open countryside.

Within a 10 mile radius of the workshop there is so much to see and do ...........

glorious beaches at Newport, Aberporth, Tresaith and Penbryn, the sand dunes at Poppit, the secluded cove at Mwnt and the dramatic clifftop scenery at Ceibwr Bay with its contorted rock strata............

the river Teifi winding its way over the picturesque falls at Cenarth, through Cilgerran Gorge below the castle, made famous by Turner, 'til it reaches the bay at Cardigan..........

the Preseli Hills with their mysterious beauty and history, including the  Neolithic burial chamber (or cromlech) at Pentre Ifan and Foel Drygarn ("The Hill of Three Cairns") from where the 'bluestones' were taken 4,000 years ago to form the inner sanctum of Stonehenge.........

other interesting places to visit, such as St. Brynach's church at Nevern with the famous celtic cross (over a thousand years old) in the churchyard, the 12th. century Abbey at St. Dogmaels, the tiny chapel on the clifftop at Mwnt, the Welsh Wildlife Centre and the 13th century Castle ruin at Cilgerran, the reconstructed Iron Age Fort at Castell Henllys, the Shire Horse Centre and Bro Meigan Gardens near Eglwyswrw, the National Coracle Centre at Cenarth, the Museum of the Welsh Woollen Industry at Drefach Felindre, the Teifi Valley Railway at Henllan, the Felinwynt Rainforest and Butterfly Centre, Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, not forgetting Cardigan town itself, with its own theatre (and cinema) at Theatr Mwldan (& T.I.C.), riverside quay, indoor Leisure Centre and golf course...........

craft workshops and art studios abound in this area and if you call at our workshop we will be happy to provide you with all the relevant literature (also see LINKS page) and tell you of any craft/art exhibitions running..........

great eating places are dotted throughout the area, from small, interesting local inns and tea rooms to imaginative restaurants, many serving local produce and offering delicious regional specialities..........

with so much to do and see in this area of astonishing beauty and vivid contrasts, rich in tradition, culture and heritage, what better place to spend some time exploring?
